Revenue generating site

Let’s start a series of articles on how to get income from your site. We will not dwell here on how to increase revenue from sites selling something, because it is rather a question of site promotion. Let’s talk about information sites that provide visitors with free information.
All that comes to mind is advertising. About this and talk. Let’s start first with what should not be done.
Advertising materials can be divided into graphic or HTML banners, text links and promotional articles. We will not consider Rich-media, pop-up and pop-down, because These formats can greatly affect the attendance of your resource – many simply refuse to return to sites using these advertising technologies. There are still non-standard ways – we’ll talk about them separately.
What should be avoided when placing promotional materials.
A large number of graphic banners. It is just useless. Each determines the quantity himself, since pages are different in design and content. One screen does not need to hang more than 3 banners. Conclusion – in all you need to know when to stop.
Not all banners are equally useful. The return on banners with thematic advertising is much higher than with topics that are not interesting to your visitors. Conclusion – learn the tastes of your audience.
Banners should not annoy visitors. At the sight of an annoying banner, the visitor will most likely close the browser page than go to the advertised site (and will not return again). If the advertisement is of interest to him, he will go over the banner. Conclusion – choose advertising materials to your taste (most likely it coincides with the taste of your site visitors)
Test links are advertisements for which money is paid. No need to dump them in the footer of the page. Many links are a reduction in the value of each, and not an increase in total income. Do not post more than 5 links. Conclusion – do not be greedy (as a toad or feed – still strangle).
Advertising should look like advertising. Ad units sign “Advertising” or “Recommend” or “Partners of the site.” Visitors to your site should understand that there is material on the site and what is promotional material. Conclusion – visitors may mistakenly follow the advertising link assuming that they go to the next page of the site.
“Support the site – click on the banner” – sounds childish, is not it? Advertisers will have an  money . Conclusion – adults earn, and children beg.
Advertising articles are articles describing the goods and services of the advertiser. They can improve the image of your site, and can nullify it. Is it worth it to advertise call girls on the site about baby food? This also applies to other advertising formats, but articles are a special matter. They are part of your site, with all its consequences. Conclusion – site reputation is more expensive than advertising placed on it.
